Common Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) in the garden of the South London Botanical Institute. A plant that features heavily in herbal lore, particularly for sedative and calming properties. Found across Europe including the UK. Will try planting it in my garden this autumn as will tolerate some shade though prefers a moist soil.
